The staff of SOBT is excited for Parent Observation week, May 27 through June 2.
In addition to watching classes we have the wonderful opportunity for you to purchase OBT merchandise as well as entering to win one of five raffle prizes. See below for brief descriptions of each raffle item.
- Treat your family to the perfect weekend of family memories. Enjoy a family portrait at the exclusive studios of Ollar Photography. With your sitting fee covered and an additional $150 to spend on portraits, every member of your family will have an image to treasure. Afterward, experience the magic and joy of a Northwest Children’s Theater production. You’ll enjoy four tickets to a performance in their 2014 - 2015 season, which will feature productions rich in excitement, wonder, and laughter. Raffle tickets are $25 each.
- Go behind the scenes to spend a VIP day at OBT for six. You’ll have the rare opportunity to meet Artistic Director Kevin Irving, dancers, and staff. OBT’s Dance Historian and Teaching Artist Brook Manning will answer all your questions as she escorts you on a private tour of the studios, costume shop, and shoe room. You and your guests will watch both company class and rehearsals, gaining unequaled insight into the day of a ballet dancer. And, with a delicious lunch courtesy of BUNK Sandwiches – an OBT favorite – you’ll become a true OBT insider. Raffle tickets are $25 each.
- Treat your son or daughter and three friends to a special class and lunch with Retired Principal Dancer Alison Roper. These four students will join Alison for an hour-long class – including accompaniment on the piano by one of the pianists who play for OBT company class. Alison will tailor the class to suit the preferences of the students, and afterward answer all their questions over sandwiches from one of her favorite local lunch spots, BUNK Sandwiches. And, as a special treat, Alison will dedicate one of these signed posters to each child. Raffle tickets are $25 each.
- You’ve watched from the seats – now is your chance to be part of this holiday classic! You will appear onstage during the Act One party scene of Oregon Ballet Theatre’s 2014 magical production of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker. You will be escorted on stage in costume and witness the performance from a vantage point few people get to experience. Invite your friends to see your ballet debut – this package includes four tickets to the performance. Raffle tickets are $25 each.
- Treat yourself and a friend to dinner by Michelin-starred chef Ryuta Sakamoto of Kyoto at The Allison Inn & Spa. His restaurant, Kappo Sakamoto, is the top restaurant in all of Kyoto, the cultural capital of Japan. Sakamoto san and his staff are flying to Oregon from Japan to prepare a traditional Kyoto-based meal with pairings of Ken Wright Cellars wine. After dinner, enjoy an overnight in pure luxury at the Allison Inn & Spa. These seats are not available to the public, so entering this raffle is your only way snag the last two seats and be part of this once-in-a-lifetime meal! Raffle tickets are $50 each.
