Dear SOBT Students and Parents,
From Thursday, January 30 – Saturday, February 1, 2014, we
have organized for a representative from Freed of London to be at OBT to carry
out fittings for pointe shoes. The
fittings are open to students in levels 3 - Professional Division and are free
of charge. As previously mentioned, it
is the desire of the faculty that all students in levels 3P and 4 as well as
those who are on pointe or about to go on pointe in level 3 begin wearing the
Studio Freed pointe shoes. These shoes
should ultimately last longer, offer more support and are less expensive than
the Classic Freed shoe. I think it is
important all students who will be wearing the Studio Freed are properly fit,
and this is a wonderful opportunity to do just that with a representative
traveling here especially for this purpose.
Students in levels 5, 6 and PD are also welcome to be fitted for Freed
Classic shoes while the representative is here at OBT.
The Freed representative will be bringing samples in a large
variety of sizes and widths and she will also have shoes available for
purchase. All shoes purchased will be
discounted 20%, this means a pair of Studio shoes will cost $75.20 rather than
$94.00. She will also bring Pro Pads,
Stitch Kits, ribbons and elastic. In other words, all that the first time
pointe shoe students need to get started.
Everything is 20% off retail prices.
Sizes that are not available will be shipped from New York free of
charge. Method of payment: Cash, Check,
(made out to Freed of London) Credit Cards (Master Card, Visa, Amex and
Discover.)
OBT shoe mistress Eileen Ehlert has put together a schedule
in 20 minute time brackets over the three days.
What we are asking is that each person requesting a fitting sign-up on
the sheets at Karin’s desk and Eileen will in turn schedule the
appointments. Please sign-up no later
than this coming Tuesday, January 21. We
will then post the schedule by the end of next week. Students will be scheduled for fittings only
on days they are already scheduled for classes.
It is highly advisable for a parent to be at the fitting with the
students, this is especially important for students who are being fitted for
the first time.
Students should also bring the pointe shoes they are currently wearing to the
fitting (if this is your first pair this doesn’t apply) and anything used in
their pointe shoes, such as pads, toe spacers, sock liners, etc… Students are also asked to wear convertible
tights to the fitting.
We will have the sign-up sheet available beginning tomorrow,
Thursday, January 16.
Thank you and I hope this will be a big help for everyone.
